So, I found myself mulling over the html5 spec, and wondering if I was the only guy around who is scared to death of the <canvas> tag? Not that I don't appreciate the power and capability of a new drawing api for the web, particularly one that is open, accessible and blah blah blah.. Oh, and that many may finally cheer the "death of flash". No, what really terrifies me is that in another ten years (once we have enough penetration of IE browsers that can support it) we are going to, once again, see the abuse of yet another display technology. At DrupalCon Chicago 2011 one of many "big picture" questions floating around was a classic philosophical conundrum: Who am I? It seems that rapid growth in the Drupal community and the contribution of myriad features have created an anomaly of software that now seeks to identify itself. Drupal Rocks Chicago 2011

Last week, I joined the ranks of several thousand geeks as they descended upon Chicago and took over the Sheraton Hotel in a bi-annual event called DrupalCon. At first blush you might imagine rooms filled with khaki pants and golf shirt wearing technophiles comparing specs on the latest gadget and talking in abstractions about the future of teraflop and petabyte capable computing power. Not at DrupalCon. While this crew was not quite the type you rub shoulders with at a Rammstein concert, as far as new age open source hippy nerds go, Drupal people are the rock stars of the CMS world.
