2005

The word Blog hits the mainstream. I still refuse to use blog as a verb out of principle. I am not sure why, however. For me, it ranks up there with "antiquing".

This also was the year that the majority of designers and developers wholly embraced the use of W3C Standards markup. HTML was long since dead, and XHTML became the word of the day. The massive adoption of Mozilla's latest browsers seemed to be speeding up the trend. Long live the Box Model and CSS!

It even appeared that Microsoft would finally support the PNG Alpha channel in their latest browser, IE 7. Beta 1 was released on July 27, 2005.

If that all sounded like Greek to you, don't fret. All that meant was that, finally, web guys are creating good code. That just makes it easier to update your website, and gives you more options to make it look super sexy.
